Country Villa Terrace Assisted Living Center, conveniently located along Museum Row, sits adjacent to its sister skilled nursing facility. The assisted living center is deceptively plain at first glance, making the handsome interior even more alluring. Luxurious couches and floral-patterned carpet create a hotel-like feel in the lobby. Just across the hall, a small formal dining room accommodates residents who require feeding assistance. This room is a mere shadow of the palatial dining room on the second floor, which has stunning chandeliers and fancy tables and chairs. The facility serves kosher meats, but does not adhere to a strictly kosher menu. A popular lunch includes potato latkes with sour cream and applesauce, and we hear the beef brisket is also a big hit.

The main dining room also contains a separate section with a TV, which is used for activities and accommodates many lively functions. The administrator told us it’s not uncommon to find most residents engaged in a spirited game of bingo! When we visited, residents were enjoying conversation and refreshments served by attentive staff members. There is a primary common room, which was being renovated when we visited. Games, movies and crafts occupy residents, while trips to concerts, casinos and even Las Vegas provide an exciting break from routine. The peaceful patio is a perfect spot to sit in the shade and take in the pleasant weather.

Unlike many other facilities, County Villa Assisted Living Center offers three levels of care, depending on residents’ needs. The most basic level serves those who need partial help with the activities of daily living, while the other two levels provide more assistance. Both floors contain residents’ rooms, with a total of 136 beds. Matching floral bedding and window treatments are attractive and homey. When we visited, we met a happily married couple who live together at the facility. Their son, a local architect, visits frequently and is always very pleased to find his parents comfortable and happy.
