Acacia Heights Assisted Living, LLC is a family-owned and operated assisted living home right here in the heart of Peoria, Arizona, (near Phoenix, Sun City West, Glendale, and Surprise). Owners Benjamin and Laura Remchek are both Bachelor-prepared in the Science of Nursing, graduated from Arizona State University and its renowned College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation. Laura has worked in assisted living for the past six years, serving residents on a personal level and helping them manage their disease process while maintaining their quality of life. Before joining the assisted living community, Laura trained and worked at Barrow’s Neurological Center in St Joseph’s Hospital on the “Neurology/Neurosurgery Acute Unit.” This valuable experience provided a detailed refinement of nursing skills and knowledge as Laura treated patients who had suffered recent brain/spinal surgeries, strokes, neurological disorders and infections, complications after falling, Parkinson’s Disease, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and more. Laura continues to use these experiences when developing specific individualized care plans and detailed communication with medical practitioners. Benjamin continues to care for our Nation’s Veterans at the bedside daily. Since beginning his nursing career nine years ago, Benjamin’s intelligence and expertise quickly highlighted him as a prime candidate for managerial positions. As an RN manager at Banner Del Webb, Benjamin worked with the aging population in managing acute scenarios related to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, severe depression, and psychosis. He also has extensive knowledge in Gerontological nursing, and the potential complications and considerations related to. Benjamin is currently serving our country’s veterans at the VA Medical Center in Infectious Disease. In this position, he treats patients with all types of wounds and infections, while also providing education on disease prevention and infection control. His wide variety of experience has given him the knowledge to work with each patient’s medical team in treating each disease process effectively. Benjamin and Laura reside on the property in the Acacia Heights guest house with their two children. Their favorite family activities are taking walks to the park and going on an outing to the Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium. In addition to nursing, they enjoy teaching Sunday School and serving in their church Missions-Charity Department.
