More About The Quadrangle

Haverford, PA 19041

We’re welcoming brighter days as our residents have the chance to enjoy group activities, communal dining, social events, and indoor visitation, subject to community operating status. A Haverford, Pennsylvania, continuing care retirement community (CCRC), providing independent living for active older adults, as well as personal care, memory care, and rehabilitation services Founded by retired Quaker professors in 1986, our community offers a distinctly inclusive, intellectual, and highly engaged environment Offering a variety of 1-2 bedroom apartment styles, along with eight residential buildings, skilled nursing and personal care facilities, and numerous residential cottages Featuring 85 resident-run committees, a vibrant activities program that includes an emphasis on fitness and personal training, and a multitude of art, literature, science/health, and cultural opportunities with a focus on the mind, body, and spirit Nurse on site 24/7, as well as a cardiac and pulmonary program The Quadrangle, which is located on 74 wooded acres, just nine miles from Philadelphia’s City Hall, was founded by a group of Haverford College professors who were looking for a new approach to retirement homes. By creating a place where older adults could live securely, share their interests, and enjoy one another’s company, they felt they had created a new kind of community that had the feel of a college campus, with an emphasis on creativity and continued learning. When you enter our lovely community, the first thing you will notice is the beautiful art that lines the walls throughout the hallways. Many of this is resident-created art, and you will sense immediately that there is a focus on fine arts, pottery, and sculpting (much of this work is created in our popular art studio). Our residents are highly involved in the curation of our committees and programming and have even adopted "the life of the mind" as our community's motto, as so much at The Quadrangle revolves around providing enriching, fulfilling experiences. And, to ensure the community is consistently meeting residents' needs, we are proud to boast an active and involved Resident's Association with a ten member council and four officers who meet with the resident body monthly to consider community needs and concerns—allowing ample opportunity for involvement in the life and governance of The Quadrangle. The library, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is at the heart of our building, and we are proud to offer more than 10,000 volumes. Our resident committee purchases 30-50 new books each month and we offer two bookcases of work written by our resident authors. We offer an excellent dining program, and our in-house chef offers a fully inclusive meal program. Our property features a 6-hole executive golf course and putting green, bocce, tennis courts, croquet, community garden plots, and a greenhouse. The Quadrangle is truly like no other senior living community, and we would be honored to welcome you and your family for a tour of our buildings and our grounds. You will notice immediately that our residents are friendly and approachable, and—if you wish—you will have the opportunity to meet many of the people who make our community so vibrant and talk to them about life at The Quadrangle.
